Bad Design Kills - No kidding

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

The site says that

The site “Bad Design Kills” says that ” The world is steeped in bad design.  As designers we see something every day that makes us cringe or shake our heads in disgust.”  Sadly, I agree.  You can check out some great propaganda against bad design here and also stories about rip off artists ilke logoworks.com

Also you can submit and participate by putting up some of your own propaganda.

I’m mostly selling my original ink and watercolor painting! They are fun and hopefully someone will pick some up. I sold one a few days ago, and it’s kind of a rush. You guys should try it!

Lonely Girl 15 = Jessica Rose from New Zealand

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006
A nearly four-month-old Internet drama in which the cryptic video musings of a fresh-faced teenager became the obsession of millions of devotees â themselves divided over the very authenticity of the videos, or who was behind them or why â appears to be in its final act.A nearly four-month-old Internet drama in which the cryptic video musings of a fresh-faced teenager became the obsession of millions of devotees — themselves divided over the very authenticity of the videos, or who was behind them or why — appears to be in its final act.

The woman who plays lonelygirl15, whose first-person videos are among the most-viewed on the clip-sharing Web site YouTube, has been identified as Jessica Rose, a twentyish resident of New Zealand and Los Angeles and a graduate of the New York Film Academy. And the whole project appeared to be the early, serialized version of what eventually would become a movie.

Matt Foremski, the 18-year-old son of Tom Foremski, a reporter for the blog Silicon Valley Watcher, was the first to disinter a trove of photographs of the familiar-looking actress, who portrayed the character named Bree in the videos. The episodes suggested Bree was the home-schooled daughter of strictly religious parents who improbably stole time to upload video blogs of her innermost thoughts.

The discovery and the swift and subsequent revelation of other details surrounding the perpetrators of the videos — and the phony fan site that accompanied them — marks the end of one of the Internet’s more elaborately constructed mysteries. Whether fans, whose disbelief in lonelygirl15 was not willingly suspended, but rather teased and toyed with, will embrace the project as a new narrative form, condemn it, or simply walk away, never to be fooled again, remains to be seen.

ipod shuffle

Showtime came and went, I saw the dog and pony show on the site.  All I have to say is that if I ever see Steve Jobs in person, I’d like to give him a swift kick in the nuts.  Come on man, another freakin’ ipod shuffle.  Don’t get me wrong, It’s all cool stuff.  And I know in my heart that it’s smart business.  This is how any business should run, you don’t try to be too innovative by creating a new market.  You make old ones better.

And to be honest Apple has done alot this year- All products have been moved over to Intel.  Superfast Mac Pros and Mac Book Pros.  And the beautifully redesigned shuffle.  All Good.  I just want a Mac Tablet, An iPhone and a mini-mac pro.  Is that too much to ask for.

Catch more coverage of Showtime here.

notcot.org

Notcot is one simple yet amazing site. The layout, the colors and the usability are just wonderful. More than all that, is the content on the site. People or the notcot kids upload cool images of stuff they like on the web and then link it to where it’s from. Most of them have little blurbs about the product or picture. It’s visually inspiring- I feel like i’m window shopping for insparation. We got tons of traffic by being mentioned on Notcot, I hope this returns the favor. I heart notcot.

Apple’s Secret Event: Showtime 9/12/06 Leaked?

Apple's Secret Event: Showtime 9/12/06 Leaked?

Found this one on Gizmodo. It seems like the new apple event is what everyone’s blogging about. I started feeling left out, so here it is. The blurb below is a list of what’s happening at the show tommorow. I guess we’ll have a couple of new ipods, and one more thing…

As always there will be one more thing….that’s how Steve Jobs likes to do things

I hope that one more thing is an Apple Tablet or an iPhone. I will borrow from everyone to buy either one of these things tommorow!!!

Let’s just say I have been informed by a little reliable birdy about Tommorow’s event. The line-up will follow this similar structure:
Welcoming of Media Members
Discussion on iTunes software, iTMS integration into iTunes, and iTMS
sales and facts.
Announcement of iTunes version 7.0
Announces better search feature for Music Store
Announces Movie Store. Available Immediately will be movies from
Disney and Pixar, among other studios.
New iPod Nano Announcement (nice brushed casing, while it will have
same features as first gen, only a longer battery life)

New iPod Announcement (Widescreen, Bluetooth, and featuring virtual
touchwheel. Does not include Wi-Fi, or any other protocols)
One More Thing….

TubePort. A $99 2-piece set that includes a dongle that connects via
USB to your mac, and another dongle that connects via included HD
cables or regular Component cables to your TV. The movie is accessed
on your Mac via an iDisk-like storage component hosted by Apple.
Jobs will then explain the pricing structure of the Movie Store.
Movies wil be available as either a smaller iPod-format (which will
cost $9.99 per movie), or as a larger, streamed movie to be streamed
to your TV via TubePort. This cost $14.99 per movie. To purchase an
iPod-formatted movie and a streamed version of the same movie, it will
cost you $19.99.

Aaron’s Work Leaves Me Gasping For Air!

Aaron's Work Leaves Me Breathless

Once in awhile you find an artist to be so raw that it really leaves you breathless. Aaron Kraten is that artist. I am amazed by the depth of his mixed media paintings. I don’t have a classic art background, so I don’t know who to compare him to, so you’ll have to see for yourself! Rock On Aaron.

Here is a little about Aaron::

Age 32

From Huntington Beach, CA

“I grew up in Huntington Beach , CA

and always enjoyed drawing.

I carried around these small 100 page sketchbooks

which I drew in often. In 1999 I was working

at a thrift store called Stateside.

There I started experimenting with painting on Found objects.

I started Displaying my work in the Thrift Store and

Sold Quite a bit of Art off those walls.

Soon after I Began Submitting my work to Gallerys

and Museums locally. I show about 4 times a year

and Post new work on my website often.

I have drawn over 58 - 100 page sketchbooks

and over 150 paintings.”
