Hey Luther Dont Blue Tooth the Wacom!

Graphire6x8bt_600x500.jpg

This one is for luther. Luther (an amazing artist on mojizu) was wondering about the blue tooth tablets. The first time I saw one of these I wanted one. Then I found out that they only come in the Graphire (lower end, non-pro) version, and was completely turned off. I my self love my tablets and have one on both my laptop and work station. I can’t work with-out one. I pretty much look retarded using a mouse. The thing
is that ideas stop flowing with a mouse for me, but with a tablet I still feel like I’m sketching even during technical tasks.

The Graphire Blue Tooth tablet is for non-professionals that are looking for a cool toy, I think the people who buy them are also being used as guinea pigs. But I wouldn’t mind getting one of those wide format Intous III’s. I run two monitors on my computer and the wide format tablet would solve a great issue. My normal ratio tablet is not meant for 2 screens, my circles during sketching look oval, the wide format tablet clears up this issue and more. Also, you can’t beat the nice quick keys on the side, you can program them any way you like. Check out all the cool Wacom gadgets here! If you do decide to get one, don’t get anything bigger than a 9 x 12- any biggier and …it’s just silly, ok…:)

The New MojiChamp Plugs The Competition

One of the best concepts and executions to date on mojizu. HaddensLunchbox is one of the most active members on the site, and his work is just freakin’ amazing. This time his Positive n Negative Moji went up against his own Octobot. Even though they both were amazing characters, Positive n Negative killed Octobot with it’s strong and quirky concept. Don’t forget to check out the current MojiWar and vote! HaddensLunchbox is a Seattle, WA based illustrator with a very unique style.

Mighty Mouse, Not So Mighty

Steve Jobs does it again. I always said, he is probably the only guy that’ll get a standing ovation for coming up with a 2 button mouse. I’ve used the mighty mouse and I find it to be a bit clunky. Now the clunky mouse is wireless. The problem that I have with the apple wireless mice is that they tend to lose connection and getting it to link up is a pain. But don’t let me hold you back, try one and see if you like it. I think apple has a 15 day return policy.

imagelink
I have been waiting for a site like this. The idea is great, upload an image, get it rated and if anyone likes it they can buy it. All they have to do is go to imagekind, select a picture or painting, they can crop and frame it and have a custom framed peice for their house or office!. Check it out, I might be uploading some of my personal stuff! Also don’t forget about the artist community aspect of it!

5OUP Lets Creative Students Share Their Talents Online

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

Two super talented dudes, Tom Judd and James Chambers founded 5OUP at the beginning of this year. They went to the Art Institute in Bournemouth and they are continuing their education in the arts. As students they found that online promotion actually works, so they decided to share their success with other students. 5OUP showcases many emerging artists around the world and it’s always improving its functionalities and features. I hear 5OUP 3.0 is coming soon and it will be offering customizable profiles, the ability to upload more and bigger profile images and videos, a resources section and more. They have been wonderful enough to give us at Mojizu a link on their homepage. They are also offering advertising on the site now for 1/2 price, which seems to be a great deal. Overall The idea of a creative student community rocks, and Judd and Chambers are doing a great thing here!

RPA.COM Lets You Navigate Through Time

rpa

Once in awhile I find a site that’s just fun to play around in. RPA is that kind of site. They call themselves the largest agency on the west coast. The coolest part about the site is that you can check out their portfolio by dragging a timeline side to side. Pretty cool if you have a spare minute. It takes a few seconds to load up. Have fun time traveling.

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

splash_07142006_logo.jpg It’s that time of the year again! Comicon San Diego is going to be a blast. I can’t wait to meet all the emerging comic artists and publishers. Last year turned out to be lots of fun and left us with tons of great memories. This year I’ll be there with a few of my friends and some of the MojiTeam passing out Mojizu stickers and flyers. Hope to see you all there!

Tokidoki Designer, Simone making it big!

Here is solid proof that if you stick to what you love, you are bound to make things happen. I met Simone accidentally a couple of years back when he had just come to the US from italy to start his Japanese style Character Based Brand. He is one of the nicest guys I’ve met, not to mention talented.
Now he has a full blown clothing line, he’s been featured dozens of times and a huge collaboration with LeSportsac Bags! I’m really proud that character designers are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Check out tokidoki here!

Socktopus Wins the Mojiwar

Socktopus took home last weeks championships. As always a great concept takes the win on mojizu. Socktopus was designed by 28 year old member Michael (MADmAGLio) Maglio of Buffalo, NY. Check out the rest of his characters on mojizu and stop by his personal site for more great work. His style ranges from colorful and cute to damn right scary and creepy!
